My lasting memories of the pilgrimage I undertook in May 2023 have very little to do with an etherial expression of spirit, but more an affirmation and inner discovery of what I am capable of. I uncovered my own ‘spirit’… my flaws, my strengths and a hint of my potential.

The pilgrimage I undertook was a 150 mile walk from Holywell to Bardsey Island on the North Wales Pilgrims Way. The Peace Walk as it was once called. It took us across rolling raw countryside, through beautiful woods full of wild garlic and bluebells and finally along the north wales coastal path until we reached our final destination.

The only focus whilst walking on the pilgrims path is on the security of the next step. And in this place this is where a pilgrimage becomes a walking prayer and meditation.

I have never really fully appreciated my ‘self’… that is to say the purest essence of who I am without my roles, self imposed rules and responsibilities.

Take away self judgement and that critical voice that rolls around my head countering every hope with why I shouldn’t do something, and I found in that quiet place, on the path, one foot in front of the other, another voice.

In that quiet place I found my ‘self’. The calm, quiet and patient Karrin. The Karrin that was happy to hear other peoples stories. The Karrin (that ordinarily wouldn’t push herself too much) finding herself at the base of a mountain which she had no choice but to climb, accepting and ready. However steep it was and however long it went on for… she climbed it; one step at a time. The Karrin that found herself in new and unfamiliar territory having to embrace and welcome rather than shirk and recoil from. The Karrin that walked one step at a time and on the last step realised just how far she had come and how capable she really is. Lasting lessons indeed!

Yes, the pilgrimage taught me an awful lot about my own spirit… and I believe this is ultimately what pilgrimage is. To uncover our truest nature. Our God spirit which resides at our core, and once realised can be brought into the world to be fully expressed and enjoyed by ourselves and others… and this is how we serve others. By being all of who we are in our ‘selves’.

However I don’t think we need to go and find a walk to undertake a Pilgrimage… we can set our intentions and using the lessons learnt from my walk I would now say, for me, everyday is like walking in Pilgrimage. I approach my day-to-day life with the same lessons I learnt on the The North Wales Pilgrims way. And how do I do this? I use my Intention Angel. I set my intentions and write them down then place them in the cavity of my Intention Angel asking for them to be achieved and in service to my spirit. And as I walk through life each day I take each challenge, encounter and blessing as my pilgrimage to achieving my intentions and being all that I can be.

In this mad busy crazy world I have a lofty intention to help create world peace. A calling I feel deep into my bones. I feel that the need for us all to find our own spirit and inner compass has never been more important in this modern day world. And this is something I can help you to achieve too.

When we uncover our inner compass we can experience a deep peace and appreciation for being who we authentically are. There is huge relief and deep joy in that self expression, wether it is making and creating something, actively participating in community or something else entirely. When you find out who you are, what you love and what brings you a deep soulful peace then there is very little in the modern day world that can really compare or compete with you.

And this is what I wish for you. Deep inner peace. There is nothing passive about finding and being peaceful. It needs constant action and awareness to stay on your own path, and to not be taken off course by the outside modern world.

Remember, a peaceful world needs peaceful people. Just like me. Just like you.

If this is something you would like to explore more for yourself please do take a look at the services I offer.

In peace, Karrin Maria
